DAY 01 : Arrival in Mumbai
Today after you reach Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus at 1530 hours, staff of Deccan Odyssey Train greets you in the traditional way after completing the formalities. As you step in Deccan Odyssey, it leaves for your first destination, Nashik.
There is dinner and overnight stay at the train.
DAY 02 : Nashik
Today after breakfast you step at the divine city of Nashik. Stroll at the banks of River Godavari to witness the different Hindu rituals. The markets near the river are also worth visiting to get a glimpse of the lifestyle of this city.
You next drive to the Grover Zampa vineyards to check out the wine production process. As the vines of Chenin, Chardonnay and Shirax line up, the reason why Nashik is known as the wine capital of India becomes clear. After relishing a yummy lunch you head back to the train for the next phase of the journey, to Aurangabad.
There is dinner and overnight stay at the train.
DAY 03 : Aurangabad – Ellora Caves
As you step down at the industrial town of Aurangabad today, you will feel to be in the land of Mughal era. After breakfast you are taken to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ellora Caves. 1500 years back these rock cut caves were sculpted by art loving Buddhist monks. As you pass through these historic caves, the influence of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain religion on the life of common men become more evident; the Kailash cave temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva is one of the significant caves of the group.
You return to the train for lunch. Rest, sip your favourite drink or spend time on your own as Deccan Odyssey chugs off to Jalgaon. Dinner and night stay at the train.
DAY 04 : Jalgaon- Ajanta Caves
After breakfast you set off to check out another set of rock cut architectures, the Ajanta Caves. There are 30 Buddhist caves here which dates back to the 2nd and 6th century. The rich paintings and sculptures of these ‘viharas’ narrate the stories based on life of Lord Buddha, jataka stories and panels based on Mahayana themes.
You return to the train for a sumptuous lunch at the train dining car. Play games, relax with a spa massage or be at yourself as the train moves to Kolhapur. Dinner and night stay are at the train.
DAY 05 : Kolhapur
Today after breakfast you can spend time enjoying the fantastic amenities of the train. After a delectable lunch you get down to go on a city tour. While the New Palace Museum exhibits the glorious architecture of 19th century Maharashtra, the Town Hall Museum is a reflection of the neo-gothic style of architecture. Shop the beautiful Kolhapuri chappals at the city market. Later entertain yourself with folk song and dance programme, Lavanya Sandhya; tea is served during the programme.
Mahalakshmi Temple, the crowning glory of the city is your next visit. With its imposing architecture and religious significance, this shrine is one of the Shakti Peethas. After enjoying a traditional performance of martial arts, Mardani Khel, you return to Deccan Odyssey for dinner and night stay.
DAY 06 : Goa
After your breakfast, you disembark the train for some ultimate fun and frolic. Your first trip is to the Fontainhas, the Latin quarters which were built during the Portuguese rule at Goa. The ancient churches and St. Augustine Tower of Ribandar depict the Portuguese influence over Goan culture. Today savour on a Portuguese meal which is composed of 400 years old flavour at the Sahakari spice plantation; the combo of feni, shrimps, kingfish and mackerel is no less than a majestic feast.

Go back to Deccan Odyssey for dinner and night stay; as the train crawls to Ratnagiri, witness the scenic beauty of the railways routes of the Konkan region.
DAY 07 : Ratnagiri
Today you open your eyes at one of the fascinating parts of the Konkan region, Ratnagiri. Your first destination is to the Ganpatiphule temple. As per legends, the 400 years old deity of this shrine rose from the soil. Refresh yourself at the shores of the Arabian Sea.
Get back to Deccan Odyssey for lunch. After some rest you are taken to the mango and cashew plantations. Stroll through the cool shadows of the plantations and visit the real lifestyle of Konkan at the ‘wadas,’ local Maharashtra neighbourhood. It is also the best place to shop local souvenirs. Head back to the train for dinner and night stay.
DAY 08 : Mumbai Departure
Today after breakfast bid goodbye to the crew of Deccan Odyssey Train at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station of Mumbai.
